Crafting + Storytelling: Hand Twining Scrap Rope + Japanese Folktales with Midori

Spend a relaxing afternoon with Midori exploring fiber crafting and Japanese folktales. She will show you an easy, tool-free way to turn scraps, rags, and fibers into colorful twine. This meditative folkcraft is practiced in many cultures. While we work, Midori will share her favorite Japanese folktales about shapeshifting animals, undersea kingdoms, everyday gods, angry ghosts, and surprising lessons, all told with her signature humor and twists.

All materials will be provided, and feel free to bring your own scrap fabric, scissors, or fiber craft projects. Join us for creativity, community, and a touch of storytelling magic.

Everyone is welcome, no matter your age and experience with craft.

Midori will be teaching in English. (She speaks English and Japanese.) Midori is the artist who created the sculpture, InVocation, currently on exhibition at Bundeskunsthalle.
